pacman championship edition 2 review

Pac-Man Championship Edition 2 just came out for PC XBox1 and PS4, let's take a look. The game borrows elements from the original Championship Edition and throws in enough new features to warrant a true sequel. The most noticeable change is that pac man no longer dies on contact with a ghost, it takes a couple of bumps to agitate them before they become deadly. On the single train mode, only Blinky can become hostile, while on Extreme mode, ghost become lethal after one contact. Each of the score attacks modes feel distinct because of subtle variations that absolutely affect the optimal line. You can collect all the dots to keep your chain up or you can use a bomb to warp back to the center so you can grab the fruit to progress to the next maze.

There are about 10 variations on each of the 10 courses, making about 100 different mazes you'll see. And you'll get the most out of this game by trying to achieve an S-rank and compete in online leaderboards. The controls in this game are as tight as they come, and when you screw up you have no one to blame but yourself. There's a button for the bomb and a button for the break, which is a welcomed new addition that only pros will appreciate. Remember you can turn the corner faster if you hold the direction before turning, but this can be tricky if you get bumped by a ghost. The game looks stunning and has an awesome soundtrack of about 18 tunes. All the skins, sprites, and even camera angles can be chosen before any maze, and are unlocked by achieving certain objects, which is great incentive to keep playing.

The adventure mode is unlocked after completing the dungeon, and this is where you're given objective that essentially teach you the best lines through each maze. The biggest problem with this game was the first 15 minutes. The game forces you to play through the tutorial before you're allowed to play the score attack. To all publishers and developers out there read my lips: NO MANDATORY TUTORIALS! Overall Pacman championship edition 2 is a worthy sequel that is simple on the surface with a deep and developed meta.
