mendel palace NES megamix
I really thought this game was called Mental Palace and you went around visiting crazy houses and slamming patients against the wall. I still say that's what the company had in mind. After all, Hudson funded a commercial promoting this as a horror title...
Mendel Palace has a colorful cross-section of diverse characters. There's the guy in the speedo trying to scissor you, conehead ballerinas that spin really fast, and the fat guy with type 2 diabetes that needs to stop and fart every few seconds. It's your job to crush to them to death by flipping tiles and pushing them against a solid object.
It all seems very realistic until the portals appear. Enemies will keep regenerating and at higher levels it's difficult to make them go away permenently. This is where using your brain comes into play but if you lost that already due to severe trauma like attending college then you're probably unable to appreciate the subtle genius of this cutting-edge titie.
Mendel Palace was ambitious, especially when you find out that there is an EXTRA mode that fosters an additional 100 levels. If the anyone from Game Freak is reading, please delegate some of your company's Pokemon resources to bringing back Mendel Palace.
