marble madness NES megamix

The trackball is a pretty cool controller that I wouldn't mind experimenting with again, and it's all the more reason to bring back Marbles Madness into the mainstream consciousness again.

The game was designed by Mark Cerny for a contest that showcased the talent of young programmers. It went on to be ported to many consoles and computer systems, but the NES version strikes a particular chord, probably because of the excellent musical translation by David Wise.

Hal Canon and Brad Fuller have a huge discography they created for arcade games that are excellent in their own right. The thing about arcade cabs is that their sound was meant to compete with other nearby machines, so their mastering philosophies are different. The NES did a wonderful job of soothing your senses. It was meant to be listened to over and over again without feeling harsh or repetitive.

There was going to be a sequel called Marble Madness 2: Marble Man before the project got canned late in development. There are 2 heavily guarded prototype cabinets floating around. What's going to happen? Start a dialogue in the comments.
